Letter from management

At Pepper, we are inspired by the places we're privileged to build for our clients. The impact these structures have on the people who live, work and play in them reaches far beyond construction. In this year's annual review, we're exploring the built environment's potential to strengthen the connection between communities and provide a place for every aspect of life.

Every project fulfills a unique vision. The diverse businesses our owners lead create a wide range of needs. Retailers consider a 10-year buildout as a long-term horizon, while institutional clients, like universities and hospitals, regularly construct facilities with a much longer vision in mind. That's why our employees go the extra mile to understand the business need behind the structure and the purpose it will serve.

For example, with each project they build, Restoration Hardware is working to redefine retail – moving from an interactive experience into a new category that isn't defined as shopping. The RH Gallery is an immersive experience that treats customers as gallery visitors circulating among curated objects. Their space resurrected the historic Three Arts Building, bringing retail to a residential neighborhood in Chicago's Gold Coast and transforming the shopping experience.

By understanding our clients' goals we can integrate the right technologies and methodologies to create value throughout the construction process. This approach continues to drive efficiency and productivity on our jobs. This year our team significantly advanced our use of reality capture. The Pepper team was awarded the top prize at the third annual AEC Hackathon for developing an app that will allow users to virtually see through walls and identify potential hazards before beginning any work.

Pepper Ohio is celebrating their 10th year in business and kicked off a year-long celebration. Pepper Indiana was awarded the 2016 Indiana Subcontractors Association General Contractor of the Year award, and Pepper Illinois celebrates being recognized as one of the Chicago Tribune's Top Places to Work. We are grateful for this recognition of the efforts of our team. As we look forward to celebrating our company's 90th anniversary in 2017, we extend our sincere thanks to our clients, partners and friends. Without their support, our accomplishments this year would not have been possible.
