The Charles H. Shaw Technology & Learning Center: Henry Ford Academy Power House High wins Best Building Renovation by the AGC's Aon Build America 2009 Awards!
Pepper Construction Group completed one of 2009's top construction projects for its work converting an old Sears power house into the new campus for the Henry Ford Academy Power House High School, the Associated General Contractors of America announced. Pepper was among 15 companies to receive an Aon Build America Award, an annual ranking of the nation's most significant construction projects.
Pepper received the award for converting an abandoned power house that once served Sears' old corporate campus into a modern high school facility. The company had to restore much of the existing building, including the original ceramic tile and even some of the power plant equipment while incorporating new green technology.
Once obsolete and endangered, the building is now seeking LEED Platinum certification and is home to the Charles H. Shaw Technology & Learning Center's Henry Ford Academy Power House High School.
