Westerville City School District is the eleventh largest school district in Ohio, serving Westerville, Minerva Park, Blendon Township, portions of Columbus and other nearby rural areas. As the southern region continued to grow, many students were required to spend up to an hour commuting to and from school each day. To help improve the quality of life for families and better serve students south of Westerville proper, Westerville City School District began planning for new school campuses while rightsizing the enrollments of the middle schools across the district.

The new Westerville Minerva Park Middle School serves roughly 800 students in the southern portion of the district. Containing 124,000 square feet of space, it features a unique design that supports modern-day learning while promoting a culture of peace and harmony. The school includes administrative offices, gym space, a cafeteria, art, music and reading rooms, as well as kitchen and custodial spaces.
