This phased, multi-year capital facilities project included extensive renovations and additions at the district’s three high schools: Maine East, Maine South and Maine West. Work included renovations to entrances, classrooms, labs and security. In addition, a new stadium fieldhouse and athletic addition were also constructed and completed.

Maine East: Work on the 89-year-old building included renovating the school entrance tower, which once served as a training space for pilots, and reconfiguring classrooms and labs to promote collaborative learning and leverage instructional technology.

Maine South: This 54-year-old building hasn’t had a major addition since 1998 and lacked a secure and welcoming front entrance. Work included building a new enclosed cafeteria where an existing courtyard was, reconfiguring classrooms and labs and renovating the entrance. We also improved circulation and security throughout, as the students previously needed to go outside during passing periods.

Maine West: This school opened in 1959 and is the only district school without a fieldhouse. In addition to building a new fieldhouse, we reconfigured and enhanced instructional, tutoring, and fine arts spaces. Additionally, we created a two-story space at the center hub of the school - the cafeteria - with monumental stairs leading to a lower level.
