Promoting a healthy community

Construction of a new four-story, 160,000-square-foot health pavilion that houses healthcare and wellness-related academic programs, in addition to clinical facilities to serve the community. The building serves as a gateway to the UIndy campus and a landmark for the University Heights neighborhood.

The facility houses UIndy's School of Nursing, Krannert School of Physical Therapy, School of Occupational Therapy, School of Psychological Sciences, Athletic Training Program and departments of Kinesiology and Social Work. Spaces include classrooms, simulation and research labs, clinic and exercise space.

The facility is designed to develop new graduate programs that address today's needs, such as the Master of Public Health degree, which focuses on health disparities.

Facilitating collaborative learning

The spaces are open to provide an environment where faculty, students and healthcare professionals can collaborate on education and research. With a cafe and outdoor plaza, other interactive spaces and a rooftop terrace.

Serving the community

UIndy is hoping to partner with organizations in the healthcare and mental health fields to provide clinical opportunities for students. The university’s Psychological Services Center is also housed in the new space. The Psychological Services Center allows psychology faculty and graduate students to serve the community on a sliding-fee scale.

Value added through self perform technology

Our self perform group utilized Metal Wood Framer (MWF) and virtual construction technology to generate shop drawings to identify and resolve coordination issues ahead of time. By ordering studs to length, we were able to reduce waste on the jobsite and reduce cuts made in the field - improving the quality and safety conditions during installation.
