Downtown Benton Harbor is thought to be an old industrial city and had been suffering an economic downturn long before the recession, with an unemployment rate at nearly 20 percent. The campus redevelopment project was part of a larger effort to redefine a once thriving community and bring jobs back to the Benton Harbor, Michigan, area.

  • The project included three new office buildings that together form the downtown campus headquarters for a national company.
  • Totals more than 220,000 square feet of new office space to support 1,400 employees, including 275 new jobs. 
  • Completed in three phases, one phase per year.
  • Work included utilities, central mechanical plant and a mechanical building for future food service and a conference center building.
