Pepper expanded the home of the sea lions in the Shedd Aquarium's Abbott Oceanarium. Work included animal barrier upgrades with the use of stainless steel and acrylic, rockwork, new gates, stairs and floor coatings.  The modified Grainger Pool allows for full pool access for sea lions and maintains the Shedd Aquarium's ability to have animal encounters with beluga whales.

Project Stories

3D-printed models help envision the space

The pool could not be drained during the project, so we built floating docks and used protective panels over the pool to work on all elevations. Pepper also used a 3D-printed model to help the owner’s staff envision the new exhibit and the construction process.
