Adjusting to college life is a notoriously difficult transition, and NIU was determined to make it easier for students. A unique living space designed to increase privacy while also emphasizing community, NIU’s New Residence Hall offers 1,000 single rooms in clusters of 12. Each suite has semi-private bathrooms and common spaces, including a study area, living area and a kitchenette. The complex also features larger common areas, including a fitness center and a food-court-style community center. These multiple common areas give students opportunities to meet new people and bond with friends, while still providing them the privacy of their own bedroom.
