As part of a large expansion and modernization project designed to encourage hands-on care and patient comfort, Pepper constructed a 260,000-square-foot, eight-story tower with a basement to accommodate 196 new patient rooms on the west side of the existing medical center. The design incorporates decentralized nurses' stations and nursing support functions, including hand washing at strategic locations in the work path, family areas in each patient room, a resource library for patients and families, atrium space and healing gardens. The project also expanded the surgery center by 22,000 square feet, consisting of a vertical addition to the existing hospital building. Renovation areas include Surgery Core, Cardiovascular Operating & Endocrinology and Instrument Storage and Cart Preparation.
For the growing facility, our team renovated existing office space into approximately 1,500 square feet of a new data center. Included new data cabinets, UPS back-up system and 4 new Liebert units.
Unique aspects of the project design include increased flexibility for nurses, more accommodating spaces for visiting families and simple access to center resources, all intended to increase patient comfort.
A serene, exterior landscaped area with lush plantings and a water feature was created for patients to enjoy. The project scope included site demolition, utility work, grading, site concrete, irrigation, landscaping and site furnishings.
