At Pepper Construction, we believe that leadership is defined by more than just project milestones—it’s defined by vision, culture and community. That is why we are thrilled to announce that Candace Klepacz, Vice President of Strategy and Development in Ohio, has been named a Top Executive by Columbus Business First.

This prestigious recognition honors Candace’s "intentional strategy, disciplined execution and forward-thinking focus"—qualities that have become hallmarks of her tenure at Pepper.

Building in Ohio

Since joining Pepper in 2021, Candace has been instrumental in shaping our footprint across Ohio and Northern Kentucky. Her role is multifaceted and includes driving business strategy, strengthening client partnerships and identifying the market opportunities that will define our future.

With nearly 20 years of experience that spans everything from boutique design firms to large multi-office corporations, Candace brings a unique "wide-angle" perspective to the table. This allows her to bridge the gap between high-level strategy and the practical realities of execution.

Strengthening From The Inside

While her impact on our growth is visible in our portfolio, her impact on our people is even more profound. Candace has been a champion of culture, notably introducing “The Pepper Way.” This initiative is designed to:

  • Unify our teams across various offices and job sites.
  • Improve communication and transparency.
  • Reinforce the shared values that make Pepper unique.

Beyond programs, Candace is a dedicated mentor. She invests heavily in leadership development, ensuring our next generation of professionals is prepared to lead as we continue to expand.

A Commitment to Community

Candace’s leadership doesn't stop at the office door. She is a deeply engaged member of the Columbus community, serving as a Commissioner for the Near East Area Commission and as a Board Member for Seeds of Caring.

She is also a long-time advocate for the AEC industry. Through her work with the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), including a term as her chapter’s president, she has spearheaded mentorship initiatives that have supported countless professionals in our field.

The Heart of the Work

For Candace, construction is about more than steel and concrete - it is about creating opportunities, strengthening neighborhoods and developing the leaders of tomorrow. This award is a testament to the lasting impact of that philosophy.
