North Central College had plans to renovate the Oesterle Library. The space was reimagined into a the 39,000-square-foot, three-floor collaborative, student-centered learning environment that reflects how people study and connect today.
To create more usable space, we infilled a portion of the existing two-story open area, unlocking room for new classrooms, conference rooms, offices, study rooms and preparation spaces for interviews and presentations. A new elevator and new stairwells improved circulation throughout the building, while architectural railings and finish enhancements gave the space a fresh, modern feel. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems were fully upgraded throughout. Throughout construction, the library remained open and operational for students and staff.
