The warehouse stands 32' tall with 50' by 60' column spacing and totals 717,600 square feet. Rickenbacker 717 is very versatile with 360 car parking spots, 70 truck docks and 4 drive-in doors on a 38-acre site.
The warehouse is outfitted with energy saving, T-5 motion sensing light fixtures as well as an efficient roof and wall system creating valuable cost-savings to the owner.
One large challenge of Rickenbacker 717 was keeping the schedule on track despite the most spring rain and the harshest winter Columbus has recorded in over 25 years . The site was designed to maximize the use of on-site soil. This was accomplished through sheet draining storm water runoff to interconnected storm water retention basins. Additionally, Pepper’s standard practice of installing under slab drainage in design-build warehouses helped alleviate the moisture problems in the spring. If not for this forward thinking approach, Pepper would not have been able to utilize lime stabilization on the building pad and ensure the schedule remained intact.
