This project involved the construction of a new 65,000-square-foot Hypersonic Applied Research Facility supporting advanced aerospace testing and innovation. The facility includes a dedicated utility building housing high-capacity compressors that serve new test cells developed in collaboration with Rolls-Royce and Purdue University. Designed to advance next-generation propulsion research, the facility is home to the world’s only Mach 8 quiet wind tunnel as well as a hypersonic pulse (HYPULSE) shock tunnel. These specialized testing environments support the development of high-altitude and hybrid-electric engine technologies critical to the future of U.S. military aircraft.
