Pepper Family Wildlife Center
The Pepper Family Wildlife Center at Lincoln Park Zoo, originally built in 1912, underwent a major renovation to modernize the historic lion house and align it with contemporary standards in animal care and conservation. The project, led in part by Pepper Construction, faced challenges in blending historical architecture with modern habitat design. Emphasizing collaboration and animal welfare, the team prioritized safety, environmental enrichment, and climate control. The renovated space now includes features inspired by natural lion habitats, such as rock formations and diverse climate zones. The result is a cutting-edge facility that supports the zoo’s mission locally and globally.
